SAFARI TRAVEL GUIDE
Flights
Your arrival and departure airport will be determined by your chosen safari. Our team can assist with flight logistics and an AOF guide will meet you at the airport upon arrival and drop you off on departure.
Travel Documentation
Please ensure you have the correct travel and vaccination documentation by following our passport and visa documentation information, we cannot be held responsible for any loss due to incorrect travel documentation.
Emergencies
We have satellite phones on all our expeditions, but it's important to note that some health insurance plans do not cover medical expenses abroad. It is the responsibility of the client to have comprehensive travel insurance and medical evacuation coverage.
Payments & Gratiuties
To secure your booking, a 50% upfront deposit is required. The remaining balance is due 4 weeks before the start of your safari. Our refund policy will be discussed during the booking process. Gratuities are at your discretion but a daily amount of $50 per guide is suggested.
Security
Your safety is our top priority. However, like with all travel destinations, we recommend taking precautions to secure your personal belongings. The majority of your trip will be in wildlife areas, which pose no human-related security risks.
Liability
AOF cannot be held responsible for death, injury, illness, losses, theft, or damage to property that may occur during your safari. All safari goers need to follow the guidance of AOF staff to ensure your personal safety.
Alcohol
We enjoy a whiskey by the fire and a beer at sunset, but moderation is advised as the areas we visit are remote and animals roam free. Good, sober decision-making is crucial, especially at night. Alcohol for the trip is purchased in advance based on your order (an order form will be provided).
Age Limit
You will be in very experienced hands but we unfortunately cannot accommodate children below the age of 12 years on our safaris. All individuals below the age of 18 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Group Size
We limit our expeditions to a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 4 clients per group, On our overlanding safaris you will accompanied by an expedition leader a nature guide, a camp cook, and a camp hand.

Overlanding Menu
A great safari should be enjoyed with great food. Our menu is customisable and our expert camp cooking will keep you coming back for more. With prior arrangements, we will meet almost any dietary requirement. Below is an example of our menu options on our overalanding safaris.
Early mornings coffee, drinks, snacks and bar.
- Early Mornings: Coffee, tea and juice is served with a biscuit, fruit and porridge selection to get ready for a early morning game drive.
- Snacks, water, juice and beer will be available on a self help basis during the day.
Brunch/Lunch
- Braai broodjie club sandwich with cheese, egg, bacon, onion and tomato relish.
- Tacos with mince, lettuce, cheese, sour cream and spicy chilli chutney.
- Gourmet hot dogs with beef sausage and tomato and onion relish.
- Full english breakfast with eggs, bacon, mushrooms, lamb sausage and grilled tomato served with pot bread and cheese.
- Flap jack stacker with crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, berry glaze, whipped cream and maple syrup.
- Beef burgers with prime beef patties, lettuce, onion tomato, cheese, barbacue sauce and tomato relish.
- Tropical style chicken burgers with marinated chicken breasts, lettuce, pineapple, spicy mayonnaise and emmental cheese.
- Vetkoek steak sliders with horseradish mayonnaise, rocket and cheddar cheese.
Dinners
- Rump steak with mushroom sauce, mielies, portobello mushrooms and mixed garden salad
- Chicken and biltong potjie (stew) with mixed vegetables served with rice and fresh bread.
- Braaied lamb ribs with charred lemons, garlic bread and potato salad.
- Beef fillet with pepper sauce, sweet potato and mixed green salad.
- Marinated spatchcock chicken and skilpaadjies with gourmet braai broodjies and noodle salad.
- Spaghetti pasta with bolognaise sauce served with garlic and rosemary flat bread.
